Airports Passenger Through Put Rose 8% in Third Quarter of 2013

No fewer than 3,807,001 passengers passed through the nation’s airports in the third quarter of 2013. In the same period in 2012, a total number of 3, 524, 497 passengers had assessed the airport.
The 2013 figure indicated an increase of 282,504 passengers’ traffic, which is about eight per cent rise in traffic.
An e-mailed media statement signed by the spokesman for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Mr. Yakubu Dati attributed the rise in traffic to the ongoing remodelling of the nation’s airports across the country.
He added, “This growth is attributable to the massive investment in the airports such as the expansion of the ‘E’ and ‘D’ fingers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, the busiest airport in the country and the installation of modern facilities such as conveyor belts, security screening machines, immigration counters and transit lounges.

“The airport remodelling project is a key component of the Aviation Master Plan initiated by Princess Stella Oduah, Minister of Aviation. It is designed to modernise all the 22 airports terminals in the country making them more customer and investment friendly.”
